Opening

On the 5th, at 6 pm, the opening of the panel cycle is up to Pedro Savino, CEO/Founder of Orube Game Studio, which addresses the theme “Game Production: From student to business owner”. Each night will feature four exponents. Also on the night of April 6th, Carolina Caravana Laubisch, vice president of Abragames and Producer at Ayra, is talking about “The global gaming market: opportunities in and out of entertainment”. The panel “Game design, cultural production and accessibility: does it give a game?”, with Julia Stateri, researcher and founder of Oficina Lúdica, shows an edge of the games industry. “Gamification: where fun meets motivation”, with Guilherme Xavier, president of Donsoft Entertainment and professor at PUC-Rio, reveals another aspect of the general theme.

Professional market factors will be analyzed by Anny Caroline Souza, Test Analyst at Gazeus Games and Owner of Iná Games (“Is my profession to play? The role of quality control in the gaming area”) and Érika Caramello, CEO Dyxell Gaming and teacher university at Faetec and Cásper Líbero (“Gaining market and visibility with your independent game”; both on the 7th). The complete schedule is at the end of the release.

OX-Boom – Game Jam Experience is the culmination of the pedagogical initiative. The highlight is the in-person programming made up of a Game Jam, a game creation competition for young people aged between 18 and 29. The total prize pool is BRL 20,000, Hackathon style.

– The XBoom project fills in some gaps that formal education has not yet been able to incorporate into the mandatory curriculum. It is about working technology from the attractive logic of the games universe. During the project, we mapped a social pain that is still little debated: digital illiteracy. Young people operate technology, but produce little and the reflection of this is the idleness of vacancies in the labor market in technological areas, despite the high unemployment rate – reflect managers Priscila Seixas and Thiago Ramires from Burburinho Cultural, responsible for the pilot project.

Game Jam:

Game Jam is a common activity in the gaming world, which consists of meeting developers with the aim of creating a game from scratch in a short period of time. Participants are divided into small teams (usually between 4 and 6 members each) that compete against each other to create the best game. All teams must create an unprecedented game with the same theme, proposed by the organization at the beginning of the competition to ensure that all teams compete on an equal footing. Each team needs to create prototypes in order to validate different game ideas.
