With the reopening of the Sabina Escola Parque do Conhecimento to the public, the Permanent Space of the Contemporary Art Collection of Santo André, located on the ground floor of the place, also has a new exhibition. Thus, those who visit Sabina will also have the opportunity to check out the exhibition ‘Traces: Painting as Art’, until October 15th.
Based on the collection of Casa do Olhar Luiz Sacilotto, the exhibition presents works executed through the most consolidated and used artistic expression in the history of art. In total, there are 25 works using different techniques, materials and supports, from the traditional “oil and acrylic on canvas”, through mixed solutions, whether on paper, wood or less conventional supports.
“What makes a painting a work of art? Some believe that it is sufficient for it to be declared as such by someone who has recognized authority to do so. Others, however, believe that an object is a work of art for intrinsic characteristics, which can be subjectively detected. This exhibition allows the viewer to have their own experience with the painting and deepen it beyond physical-visual perception, exploring their emotions, be they memorial, anger, joy, sweetness, desire, repulsion, beauty, humor or melancholy”, he explains. the curator of the show, Reinaldo Botelho.
Visits can be made during the same opening hours as Sabina: from Tuesday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm, exclusively for school groups. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, the space is open to the general public, from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Students, teachers from Santo André’s municipal schools, children under five and people with disabilities have free admission to Sabina. Other visitors pay R$ 20, with half-price for students, teachers, civil servants from Andre, retirees and seniors over 60 years old.
Sabina – Sabina Escola Parque do Conhecimento is a science center with the mission of generating, preserving and disseminating knowledge through its collections, exhibitions, aquariums, terrarium, experiments, simulators, planetarium, digital theater and other services.
