A day full of music, lectures, concerts, workshops, free legal and health services for the population of Lauro de Freitas. This was the 2nd Fair of Art, Culture, Justice and Citizenship, held by the Public Defender’s Office of Bahia, this Friday (09). The activity took place at the premises of the Municipal School 2 de Julho, located in the Itinga neighborhood, with the presence of students, teachers and residents of the region. The event also featured presentations by capoeira groups, philharmonic orchestra and choir from City Hall employees.

Legal advice was offered at the Mobile Service Unit of the DPE/BA, with assistance on spontaneous demand. In the schoolyard, tents were set up to display local handicrafts, with participants from the Solidarity Economy Fair in Lauro de Freitas. The health services were carried out in classrooms reserved for the action, with assistance from a general practitioner, nutritionist, psychologist, physical educator, dentist, speech therapist and physical therapist. In addition, vaccines, rapid tests for HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis and Glycemia were made available.

Student Emily dos Santos, 14, took advantage of the activities and left very satisfied. “I really enjoyed the presentations and having all these services here at my school. It had been a long time since I went to the dentist, so it was the first service I looked for. I went through an evaluation and learned some important things for my oral health. All very good,” she said.

Mayor Moema Gramacho was present at the Fair and highlighted the importance of this integration to favor the community. “This partnership between the Public Defender’s Office and our municipality has been going on for a long time. Here we set up one of the first justice counters in the state of Bahia, benefiting everyone. Having moments like this is wonderful. Dignity is with respect to the Brazilian population and people. Integration is fundamental, because we understand that together we are stronger”, said the manager.

The event is organized by the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Bahia, Citizen Ombudsman’s Office of the DPE/BA, Association of Defenders and Public Defenders of Bahia – Adep/BA, National Association of Public Defenders and Defenders, Terreiro Ilè Asé Iyá Omífáyò and Cultural Beneficent Association and Religious Ilê Axé Oyá.
