Last Sunday (23), RWD Molenbeek received Beveren, in a match valid for the 10th round of the Challenger Pro League, the second division of Belgium. Molenbeek, team of Brazilian midfielder Barreto, ex-Botafogo, won the duel by 3 to 1. Barreto scored his first goal for the Belgian team. The player celebrated the goal scored and talked about his evolution in these first months of European football.
–– I’m not one to score many goals, so when one comes out, it’s always very special. But, one of my goals in my coming to Europe was precisely to evolve in my offensive game and I believe I have evolved a lot. I’ve already been able to give assists to my teammates and I’ve managed to reach the attack many times, thus helping my teammates. I’m very happy to be able to score my first goal with the Molenbeek shirt and help the team win the three points in the game. I will continue to work hard, always with the intention of helping and, if I have the opportunity to score more goals, it will be very special.
The opponent of the last game was the leader of the competition. With the victory, RWD Molenbeek climbed the table and took the lead. Now, John Textor’s team occupies third place, with 18 points, the same score as the second place and one point less than the championship leader. Barreto evaluated the team’s growth momentum and expects Molenbeek to remain among the first.
–– We had a great game against Beveren. They were the leaders of the competition and we knew the difficulties. But our team knew how to play the match, we made as little mistakes as possible and, thank God, we managed to win the three points playing at home. We have had a good championship, our expectation is to continue evolving and achieve the goals set at the end of the season.
