Maker Space with more than 290 technology tools is inaugurated in a state school in Tubarão

EEM Dite Freitas, in Tubarão, received this Friday, the 18th, a new space to stimulate students’ creativity and innovation. The inauguration of Espaço Maker at the unit involved the participation of the school community and local leaders. The laboratory has more than 290 tools for carrying out practical and technological activities, including electronics and equipment such as a 3D printer and laser cutter.

The Secretary of State for Education, Vitor Balthazar, highlights the pioneering role of technologies in the public education network. “This space meets the new needs addressed in High School. It is a space that our students have to experience and participate in innovative activities in schools The state network of Santa Catarina reaches a level of excellence in this management, with spaces that few places have, and it is what our network deserves.”

Espaço Maker at the state unit had an investment of around R$ 97,000 and was the seventh laboratory inaugurated in schools in the state education network. The State Government has already acquired the equipment and furniture to equip 295 school units with the laboratory, with investments of R$ 67.4 million.

During the ceremony, the delivery of Espaço Maker to seven other school units in the region was also official: EEB Antônio Knabben, Gravatal; EEB Campos Verdes, Jaguaruna; EEB Marechal Luz, Jaguaruna; CEDUP Diomício Freitas, Tubarão; EEB Henrique Fontes, Tubarão; EEB João Teixeira Nunes, Tubarão; and EEB Sen. Francisco Benjamin Gallotti, Shark. School managers received a sign produced by the 3D printer at Espaço Maker and the Maker Education Manual, which provides pedagogical guidelines on the installation and use of the laboratory.

The labs include equipment such as robotics kits, electronic boards, laser cutters and 3D printers. Handcrafting tools to encourage creativity among students, such as bench drills, hand grinders and sanders. The tools allow students and teachers to expand the pedagogical possibilities, uniting different areas of teaching.

In addition, the Maker Spaces include specific furniture and are installed in environments that stimulate creativity and innovation. The objective is for students to become protagonists of their creations, developing activities that become projects, prototypes and experiments.

In addition to EEM Dite Freitas, EEB Maria Garcia Pessi from Araranguá, EEB Fridolino Hulse from São Martinho, EEB Almirante Lamego from Laguna, CEDUP Perfect Manoel de Aguiar from Guaramirim, EEB Prof. Laércio Caldeira de Andrada, in São José, and EEB Senador Evelásio Vieira, in Blumenau, already have Espaços Maker. The next deliveries will be in the regions of Itajaí, Brusque, Joinville and Florianópolis.
