New identity: Italian Football Federation updates selection crest

The first business day of 2023 has already brought something new in Italy. This Monday (2), the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) released the new identity of the body, responsible for the men’s and women’s football teams, both at the professional level and in the youth categories. But not just the logo. In addition to the entity’s new outfit, the shield to be used on the teams’ uniforms, as well as a musical composition that goes in accordance with the design idea of ​​the new emblem.

The change in shield (called rebranding by marketing, advertising and publicity agencies) was intended to combine the institutional part and the sports part, represented by the athletes and the competitions disputed. In recent days, FIGC profiles on social networks have shown some sensations translated into historic moments in the men’s and women’s teams. Desire, confidence, astonishment and joy were the feelings that recall the main achievements of Squadra Azzurra. The music of the Italian selection is entitled “Azzurri”, composed and produced by Enrico Giaretta and Maurizio D’Aniello, with the concept of “the sound of a nation beating as one”, of a very emotional nature, sung by the soprano Susanna Rigacci.

The FIGC president, Gabriele Gravina, stated that such changes and adaptations to modernity are signs that the entire body is ready for the future, with more symbolism and feeling for the athletes who wear the selection’s shirt, as well as for the entire Italian people.

“We are ready for the future. We present the new image of Azzurra. With the new crest and with a specific sound identity, created for the first time in history, we are entering a new dimension, but always with the desire and pride to generate extraordinary emotions in all fans. Those same emotions that helped create the new emblem that will stand out on the shirts, innovating a glorious tradition, and that inspire a new sono logo and the song ‘Azzurri’”.

The news will be seen in the next uniforms. Italy will publicize the new garments in the next few days after the change in the supplier of sports equipment. Within the four lines, the next goal of the Squadra Azzurra is to secure a spot in Euro 2024, to be played within a year and a half, to maintain hegemony on the continent. The selection is in Group C, alongside England, Ukraine, North Macedonia and Malta. The first game will be against the English, in a repeat of the last final of the tournament, at 4:45 pm on March 23, at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, in Naples/ITA.
